Β· 3 min read

Dear CSI Researchers,

We are excited to bring you the June monthly newsletter dedicated to keeping the CSI research community updated on the latest in bioinformatics and computational biology.

🧰 New Tools and Software Updates

πŸš€ Dorado Update

Oxford Nanopore’s basecalling software has received exciting new updates, including the release of four new base modification models for 2’-O-methylation of RNA:

  • 2OmeG
  • m5C_2OmeC
  • inosine_m6A_2OmeA
  • pseU_20meU

The update also includes an alpha release of their new diploid small variant caller, available for testing and experimental use.

πŸš€ Alignment and Data Processing Update

Popular tools for sequence alignment and genomic data processing have received recent updates:

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» nf-core Pipelines

nf-core is a consortium of scientists and engineers developing best-practice bioinformatic pipelines using Nextflow. These pipelines are:

  • Completely free and open-source
  • A great resource for any lab generating NGS data
  • Over 132 pipelines publicly available

Visit the nf-core website to learn more about available pipelines and how to get started.

πŸ—“οΈ Upcoming Conferences and Workshops

2025 Human Cell Atlas General Meeting

The Human Cell Atlas (HCA) is an international initiative to identify and characterize all cells in the human body. To date, over 65.8 million cells have been characterized using data from hundreds of single-cell sequencing projects.

The primary objective of this general meeting is to bring together domain experts to discuss updates to the HCA and how AI can be used to derive meaning from this unique biological resource.

🌐 Stay Connected

Check out our GeDaC website to find the information and tools you need for your research.

Our CloudFlow platform continues to provide CSI researchers with access to best-practice bioinformatics pipelines in the cloud. Remember, our team is available to assist with your computational needs and pipeline implementations.

Dear CSI Researchers,

We are excited to bring you the May edition of our monthly newsletter dedicated to keeping the CSI research community updated on the latest in bioinformatics and computational biology.

CSI/NUS Resource Helper πŸ€β€‹

We have developed a web tool to help CSI staff and students easily discover available computational and storage resources.

CSI staff and students often lack awareness of the computational and storage resources available to them, leading to under-utilization of existing infrastructure and inefficiencies in research workflows.

You can access the tool at https://www.gedac.org/helper.
